Digital Fragrance Advisor - DOUGLAS launches AI-based Fragrance Finder

DOUGLAS, Europe’s leading premium beauty platform, has just introduced a digital scent scout: The company’s new Fragrance Finder provides customers with personalised online perfume recommendations. The service represents the next step that DOUGLAS has taken in its #FORWARDBEAUTYDigitalFirst strategy. The Fragrance Finder draws on search criteria and a customer’s past favourite fragrances to suggest the right scents based on ingredients.

“Until now, it has not been easy for customers selecting a new fragrance online because they could not smell it,” said Vanessa Stützle, CDO of the DOUGLAS Group. “Our new Fragrance Finder digitises the assistance that we provide to customers in selecting perfumes and creates a virtual scent experience for them. In doing so, we’re clearly aiming to help our channels feed off each other. With the help of our targeted online customer assistance, we can foster purchasing decisions. At the same time, we are creating an interface for our stores: Once customers have completed the digital assistance process, they can go to a store and experience the new scent for themselves.” The Fragrance Finder has already been successfully tested by NOCIBÉ, the French subsidiary of DOUGLAS. The AI-based scent scout was developed in a partnership with the Spanish perfume company Puig.

Digital fragrance journey with an AI-based customer assistance tool

Customers can precisely describe their dream scent in the Fragrance Finder by using selected scent criteria and listing their favourite fragrances. Afterwards, they will receive an olfactory profile broken down by favourite types of scent. The Fragrance Finder uses this information to recommend scents that contain these preferred smells. These favourites can also be broken down by fragrance group or favourite brands. The digital product portfolio of the Fragrance Finder will now be expanded step by step.
