A unique event brings art and fashion together at the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet

Under the title “Art Meets Fashion”, the Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet today brought together visual art and contemporary fashion to create a walk-in total work of art. At the heart of the collaboration were the Düsseldorf-based artist Gregor Russ and the French designer Salomé, also known as "Matchwithart”. As part of a packed Late Night Shopping programme, a visual experience was staged that blurred the boundaries between canvas and catwalk.

“With this format, we have brought the connection between international fashion, modern art and live entertainment to life. It was wonderful to see how vibrant, creative and inspiring the centre presented itself that evening as part of the city’s ‘Zweibrücken kunstvoll’ initiative. The great enthusiasm of our guests demonstrated just how powerfully art and fashion can bring people together,” said Centre Director Uli Nölkensmeier.

A symbiosis of colour and fabric
The highlight of the day was an elaborately staged fashion show set against the backdrop of Gregor Russ’s large-scale works. The collections on display were specifically tailored to the colour palettes and stylistic language of the artworks. The curatorial concept was devised by Salomé, who, following projects at venues including the Petit Palais in Paris and Art Karlsruhe, translated her digital productions into a live performance for the first time. During the show, the designer showcased her “Perfect Match” between the looks and the canvas directly on the catwalk.

High-profile talks, live music and an editorial shoot
The day’s programme kicked off with a panel featuring a star-studded line-up. Together with host Jana Azizi, Gregor Russ and Salomé discussed how art education can be reimagined today and what role fashion plays in this. The discussion was complemented by a contribution from fashion editor Neda Peemüller of the fashion magazine Instyle and Creative Director Thomas Hayo. The industry specialists provided further insights into the creative interplay between fashion, photography and art. Musician Juan Geck, known for his appearance on “The Voice of Germany”, provided the atmospheric backdrop. With his live performance, he accompanied the two fashion shows and lent the event a special dynamism. During a subsequent exclusive photoshoot with Thomas Hayo, the guests then became part of the creative fashion-art production themselves.

Even away from the fashion shows, there was plenty to discover in the centre. With a selection of must-have pieces, the Instyle team also took up the catwalk’s central theme, “Art you can wear”, in the premium stores, demonstrating how artistic designs, bold colours and personal statements can be stylishly integrated into one’s personal wardrobe. In addition, an interactive art rally encouraged visitors to discover numerous works of art in the centre whilst taking part in an exclusive prize draw. At the end of the evening, one lucky person walked away with the top prize: they were able to take home the original work by Gregor Russ entitled “Scylla and Charybdis in a deep Talk after a Day of poor Prey”, valued at 3,000 euros.
