Düsseldorf continues to be reliable destination for buyers during DFD

Düsseldorf Fashion Days will take place from January 26 to February 02, in compliance with the responsible regulatory authority. The current Corona measurements prescribe that only people who have been tested negative for Covid, have fully recovered or have been vaccinated (at least) twice are allowed to attend. The traditional fashion order of the fall/winter collection 2023 therefore can be realized with allocation of individual appointments to avoid crowds of people. In addition, it is up to each showroom to extend the security concept to their needs and desires.

Buyers from all over Germany place their orders in over 600 showrooms. The expected frequency is lower than in summer 2021. The fashion industry however still appreciates the reliability of Düsseldorf as order destination. However, all established networking formats such as the DFD Lounge will be cancelled. Nearly 30 Covid test centers will enable all visitors to be tested daily.

Continuity is key

"With the Düsseldorf Fashion Days, we want to strengthen Düsseldorf's history as fashion city with all its dynamic and innovative expertise, even during the pandemic. North Rhine-Westphalia’s state capital is an important retail location. Nearly a fifth of NRW's turnover in the fashion industry is generated in the Düsseldorf economic region," explains Dr. Michael Rauterkus, head of economic affairs Düsseldorf.

The fact that the Düsseldorf Fashion Days can take place is an important signal for the entire fashion industry and underlines the relevance of the destination, even under the circumstances of the pandemic, says Theresa Winkels, head of office of Düsseldorf’s department for business development. "Last summer, the fashion and retail business and inner-city formats were united under the umbrella term DFD. From the city's perspective we will continue to focus on this positive development and rely on further development of the local fashion industry and cross-cultural embedment."

Angelika Firnrohr, managing director of Fashion Net Düsseldorf e.V. confirms that Düsseldorf is still the main order location in Germany. "DFD offer reliable order services and signal continuity. This season we have put our own interests aside and rethought and aligned the DFD concept in the interests of retailers, agencies, trade fairs and showrooms. The close cooperation with the city of Düsseldorf as well as the provision of hygiene measures provide necessary security for the trade public and allows ordering activities during the pandemic."

Polestar 2 as exclusive DFD Shuttle Partner

From Düsseldorfs media harbour to the Areal Böhler, Kaiserswerther Straße or Derendorfer Allee to Karl-Arnold-Platz - the Fashion Net shuttle service will depart to all relevant order hotspots from 9 am to 7 pm (dates: Friday, 28 to Monday, 31 January 2022). Polestar is the exclusive DFD automotive partner and unites electromobility, sustainability and elegance. The fixed hop-on/hop-off stops for trade visitors are Karl-Arnold-Platz and Halle 29.

Fashion, Zeitgeist, Düsseldorf: DFD Magazine No. 2

To kick off this year's Düsseldorf Fashion Days, the second DFD magazine will be published on January 14, 2022. On roughly 30 pages, trade visitors and fashion enthusiasts receive exclusive insights into the ordering processes in Düsseldorf as well as a curated mix of topics, including interviews, trend reports, and exclusive recommendations from art, retail, or culinary delights. The DFD magazine presents the Rhine metropolis in an authentic, approachable, and informative manner and acts as a strategically important tool for the national image of Düsseldorf as fashion destination.
