Düsseldorf startup Kiyo opens showroom in the KÖ Galerie

With the arrival of Düsseldorf startup Kiyo, the KÖ Galerie on Königsallee is gaining a new showroom for furniture that combines timeless design with maximum flexibility. Until now, the products could only be ordered online, but the showroom in the KÖ Galerie now offers the opportunity to experience the furniture in person for the first time

“With Kiyo, the KÖ Galerie is not only gaining an exciting start-up, but also a place to experience something new. Visitors can try out the furniture for themselves, put together their own combinations and learn more about the ideas behind the concept in a personal exchange,” explains Alexander Balzer, Center Manager of the KÖ Galerie. “Kiyo is a good example of how young companies with creative ideas are revitalizing vacant spaces and enriching our city center.”

The name Kiyo comes from Japanese and means “purity” or “simplicity” – principles that are reflected in the design. Inspired by the Japandi aesthetic – minimalist, harmonious, and functional – the modular elements can be recombined again and again without tools thanks to magnetic connections. A shelf becomes a room divider, a bedside table becomes a sideboard. The furniture is manufactured exclusively in North Rhine-Westphalia, and all materials, except for the magnets, come from Germany. The company, founded in 2022, received the German Design Award for its design and will be represented at the Expo in Osaka, Japan, in 2025.

“We grew up in Düsseldorf and have known the KÖ Galerie for many years. The fact that we are now able to showcase our products with our start-up in this high-quality brand environment is of great personal significance to us and is a great opportunity to talk to the people for whom we develop our products,” say founders Jakob Hunold, Jonathan Knyrim and Thomas Etz.
