From Cologne to Covent Garden: Kapten & Son opens its first store in London – Schwitzke & Partner stages the brand in the trendy Seven Dials district
An international milestone for Kapten & Son: on August 16, 2025, the lifestyle brand opened its first store in the United Kingdom. Located in the heart of London's creative district Seven Dials, not far from Covent Garden, the approximately 51 m² retail space is located at 27 Neal Street. The Düsseldorf-based architectural firm Schwitzke & Partner is responsible for the store design.
Here, the brand's characteristic look and feel has been deliberately transferred to the London context: the exposed, cleaned brick walls and the listed facade allow a view of the original building fabric and create a strong connection to the history of the place.
The highlight of the store is the so-called suitcase tunnel: an intense, metallic room concept with video screen windows that evokes the feeling of an aeroplane and brings to life the wanderlust that is part of Kapten & Son's brand DNA.
David Schwitzke, Managing Director of Schwitzke & Partner, was thrilled with the result on opening day. “London is familiar ground for us. Through projects for brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Live Fast Die Young, we are very familiar with the local conditions – a valuable foundation, especially in view of the new circumstances following Brexit. We are therefore all the more delighted to have been involved in shaping this exciting step for Kapten & Son in the metropolis of London.”
Seven Dials is considered one of the most charming neighbourhoods in the British capital. Cobblestone streets, historic buildings and a creative community with galleries, theatres and restaurants provide the perfect setting for the new Kapten & Son store.
